Approach

APPROACH

Our approach to international business is based on the intersection of three components: global economy, geopolitics, and energy. The dynamics of these three elements, their interaction at a given point in time, shape the specific characteristics of the international market and the way of doing business. Understanding this process can largely determine the success or failure of companies in the international marketplace.

Research

Cambridge Insight provides research and advice in three major areas:

Market Analysis

Markets create value by allowing institutions and people to engage in mutually beneficial transactions, such as exchanging goods and services or simply sharing ideas. International business does not occur in a vacuum, but in a context involving distinctive geographic locations, economic, social, and regulatory differences, information asymmetry, geopolitical tensions, and cultural and institutional differences. The results of our research in advanced, emerging, and developing market economies help leaders responsible for setting the direction of their institutions understand the modern business environment and think strategically about how to capture value in volatile and unpredictable times. Cambridge Insight conducts research and advises in the areas of consumer market mapping and business environment assessment.

Competitiveness

At the company level, competitiveness consists of consolidating a unique position that generates unique value for customers, and this value must be reflected in the company's profits. How a company captures part of this value is determined by its strategy. Strategy is singular, dynamic, and involves many mutually interconnected decisions, primarily along the global value chain. The inherent complexity of interconnected decisions, which respond to the reality of each company, makes strategy difficult to replicate successfully. An effective competitive strategy translates into sustainable and superior performance; it also promotes healthy competition, innovation, and growth. Cambridge Insight conducts research and advises in the following areas: Global corporate strategy and GVC; Cluster development and Industrial policy; and national and subnational competitiveness.

Sustainability

Sustainability is a crucial paradigm of the 21st century. It emerged primarily in response to the need to preserve living conditions on the planet and mitigate the effects of climate change. This transition to a low-carbon economy requires the massive deployment of a wide range of technologies, financial and material resources, which will transform the energy foundations of the global economy. This process, characterized by the emergence of new industries, markets, technologies, and consumer needs. It also requires a rethinking of the intersection between society and business, incorporating social and environmental impact into business strategies to boost growth, profitability, and competitiveness. Cambridge Insight conducts research and advises in the following areas: Energy Transition, Sustainable Business, and Business and Society.

The Cambridge Insight Academy represents the synthesis of our research and consulting services.

It is delivered through publications and executive education courses. These publications and courses are based on rigorous analytical frameworks, consistent quantitative data, and precise analytical concepts and categories. The goal is to help our clients understand the complex and ever-changing contemporary international environment—

marked by technological change, the reconfiguration of commercial flows, and geopolitical repositioning—so they can then act accordingly.
